taking the challenge

cort, marli, and miyan took the challenge and i enjoy reading theirs so much that i am going to give it a go myself...

1. i am a messy person. not dirty, just messy. i leave my shoes by the door and books and papers on the floor and have a hard time getting rid of stuff that i do not use (or putting it away for that matter).
2. a few times a year, i take off a couple hours during the middle of the day to go see a movie by myself.
3. growing up, i always wanted to work in the gas station in my small town. i thought it would be so fun because the whole town comes in and out of there.

4. i frequently wish i was still in college. life seemed so much easier then.

5. i wish i was brave enough to join the peace corps.
6. i put on pj pants/shorts immediately upon entering my house and wear them until i have to get ready to leave again.
7. i painted oil and gas pumps for a summer in college.

8. when a friends' child is with me and is mistaken for being mine, i smile on the inside as i get a glimpse of what it must feel like to have such pride and love for a child that you call your own.
9. i wake up approximately 15 minutes before i start work...just enough time to rub my eyes, brush my teeth, make coffee, and get to my desk. (it will be hard to get into a normal routine again if i go back to an office job!)
10. i cannot wait to plan my wedding and all of the related festivities.

tonight i am feeling blessed. i have the most amazingly supportive family and friends. it has become so clear to me over the past couple of months that, while i am stressed, frustrated, and worried about the unknown and what the future is going to hold, every scenario leaves me with a life still abundantly full of wonderful people. i can only hope that i am as good of a daughter, sister, and friend as you all have been to me. thank you for listening to me, supporting me, and keeping my boat afloat. as long as i have you, everything will be just fine.

my new obsession

have you heard of pinterest? are you on there? do we follow each other? if not, we should.
i am obsessed.
if you haven't heard of pinterest or don't have an account, you are missing out my friend. basically, the site is a big bulletin board. people post pictures, quotes, ideas, websites, etc. and you can view them and re-pin them to your boards. my boards include crafts, things for the home, products i would like to purchase, quotes, photos, food, and on and on. then, all you have to do is click on the photo and it will link you to its original location on the web. here are a few examples:

my life as i know it

i suppose if we were not thrown curve balls in life, we wouldn't have to make change and thus grow stronger. this is what i am trying to tell myself as i navigate a confusing and stressful time with my job. it really is amazing how much our emplyment impacts the rest of our lives. when it comes down to it, everything is related to money...a place to live, keeping that place cool, gas in the car, fun to be had...all cost money. something will work out soon, one way or another, but my allergy to change and life not being in my control is definitely flaring up these days :)

boston or bust part 2

boston did not disappoint!
we watched with pride as our grad walked the stage,
attended class at MIT (did not see matt damon cleaning the floors),

played with MIT's fun gadgets (obviously super smart people go to school here),

enjoyed the most amazing meal at the top of the prudential building,

saw beautiful sites on our boat tour of boston harbor (was going to include shots of the scenery but isn't my family cute? love this photo)

watched 14 innings for 7 hours to eventually see the red sox win at fenway (possibly my favorite part of the trip),

rubbed the toe of john harvard for luck (do you recognize from the social network? sadly, that is all i could think of on this amazing campus),

saw some awesome sites at the aquarium,

then ate yummy seafood at the oldest restaurant in the US (is that bad that we looked at the cute fish right before we ate them?),

toured harpoon brewery (highly recommend this),

and finally, we cheers'ed at cheers before we had to head back to dallas.

i cannot wait to go back and explore this city more. it far exceeded my expectations.

girl's mystery trip!

second annual girls mystery trip finally came...and unfortunately went. the weekend went off without a hitch and i could not be more pleased. since i was the planner, i was a little nervous because all of the secrets and surprises were getting to be almost more than i could handle but it was perfect!

sarah and jami made it in and had perfect timing. now i know how to cause lots of shocked looks, screams, and happy tears in this group of friends.

everyone loved their cute river weekend goodie bags that included chair floats, insulated mugs, and magazines

which we immediately (and for several hours throughout the weekend) put to good use.

we enjoyed the local beer garden, including beer buckets, yummy burgers and live, local youngsters serenading us,

shared a fantastic meal together,

and lots of time catching up and soaking up our time together.

i cannot wait to see what next year holds and am looking forward to again being on the other side of the mystery. love you girls~
